Chain Lubrication

1. Why chain lubrication is important?

  • Extending chain’s service life.
  • Preventing metal-to-metal contact.
  • Dissipates heat generated during operation.
  • Enables smooth movement of the chain over sprockets.
  • Helps flush wear debris and contaminants from the chain joints.
  • Protect against wear and corrosion

2.  What will be happen to unlubricated or inadequately lubricated chain?

  • Rapid wear and elongation.
  • Excessive heat generated.
  • Reducing chain’s service life.

3. Chain Lubrication

  • Lubricant needs to be engineered to penetrate and clean the inside and a heavy film of lubricant.
  • The operating conditions must also be considered. Need the ability to maintain lubricating qualities under different temperatures, moistures, etc.
  • Lubrication is required between the rollers and bushings.
  • Sufficiently low viscosity to reach the internal surfaces.
  • Freedom from corrosive

4. Some trouble signs to look for.

  • Inadequate Lubrication.
  • Chain wears. Pin and bushing wear causes chain to elongate.
  • Sprocket Wear.
  • Chain Tension.
